Sworn Brothers (Short Legend of Zelda Fanfiction)

Link glanced around at the small village of Kakariko, dead Cuccos, dead Hylians, dead Humans, dead.. Well, almost everything. As he noticed a slouching little girl, he darted towards her and tapped her lightly. "Hey, you okay?" He questioned, and whwn he got no response, he hesitantly lifted her chin up to his face.

He stayed like that for a moment, taking in the sight. "I-.." He dropped the girls head, it limply falling. Her eyes were gouged out, and her face was clawed; it was quite horrific. He stood, his eyes watering yet covered by his hair. "I'll give you another chance at life.. Don't worry.." He declared, hesitantly crouching, and planted a small kiss on the deceased child's forehead before running off towards Goron City.

As he walked towards the city, the bodies of Goron's lied, flesh torn to bits and pieces due to the fire breathing dragon Volvagia. He let out a small sigh at the disaster that Ganondorf had made. It was a living hell for all breathing things that weren't Gerudo or Stalfos.

He then saw two Gorons locked in each others arms, missing limbs and flesh. His breath hitched, his eyes growing teary as he stared at the two. These two Gorons he had recognized almost instantly...

They were the two Gorons who dubbed him their Sworn Brother, and had massacred him with hugs and affection.

At that point in his youth, he didn't know what being a Sworn Brother meant, but at this point in time he was older... And now he finally knew just what it meant to be a Sworn Brother... And he failed at it.

He let them die...

Being a Sworn Brother is to protect someone close to you, even if it costed you your own life......

And he failed.
